How to download and install the 'Cover My Tracks' Privacy Application
This guide will show you everything you need to know about properly Downloading and Installing
the Cover My Tracks program. If after reading this document, you still have problems using

STEP 1: Downloading
Pay Version:
Go to www.Cover-My-Tracks.com and click
the button in the middle section of our website called
"Download Now". After you have clicked that,
you will be taken to a webpage that asks you for
your First Name, Last Name, Country, ZIP / Postal
Code, Desired Username, and Desired Password.
Be sure to fill that information out, and then click
the "CLICK TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD" button.
Once you have successfully and accurately filled out the web-form, your browser will take you to a
page that will ask you for your full name, credit card number (Visa, Master Card, Discover, and JCB
are accepted), expiration date, and the username and password you chose on the previous page.
After you have entered that information, you will be e-mailed a confirmation message asking you to
authorize the purchase of the Cover My Tracks program. Click the URL address it gives you and once
you have a message appearing on your browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Netscape) telling you are now
being charged, you should then receive another e-mail with your proper download information.
Free Version:
Go to http://www.cover-my-tracks.com/cmt1.11freeware.exe and click the "Save" button to save
this
program to your computer. Make sure you save the installation file in a place on your computer that you
are certain will not be deleted.

STEP 2: Installation
Warning; read this before you install the Cover My Tracks application!
Make sure you have WinZip or WinRar installed on your computer. In order to find out if you do, click on "Start",
then go to option "Find", and then click "Files or Folders". As soon as a window pops up, you should go to folder
tab titled "Name & Location". On the "Named:" section, type in "winzip" (to search for WinZip) or "winrar"
(to search for WinRar) and be sure that you have "C:\" as the drive chosen to search (or the drive you may have installed it on),
then click "Find Now". Be patient and allow Windows to search for the file. If you get a message in the search body
saying "There are no items to show in this view.", then you must download those programs.
(Note: If you have both WinZip and WinRar already installed on your computer, do not download these programs.)
Once you have successfully downloaded these programs and installed them, you will need to open up Windows Explorer
and browse to the directory where you originally saved them. As soon as you have successfully installed the WinZip and
WinRar programs, we recommend you reboot your computer. After you have rebooted, go back to Windows Explorer and
browse the Cover My Tracks directory and double click on "cmt1.11freeware.exe" to run the self extractor file. The self
extractor will ask you if you want to Unzip the files into a specific folder. We recommend you Unzip the file to the directory
that you originally saved cmt1.11freeware.exe to.
Now browse the directory that you placed Cover My Tracks in and click the "setup.exe" file and follow the instructions
of the
installation program. You will know the Cover My Tracks application is installing when you see a large grey
rectangular box
pop up on the screen saying "Copying Files, please stand by" followed by a full blue screen.
The blue screen will bring up
another grey box that will say "Welcome to the Cover My Tracks 1.11Freeware installation program.", "Setup cannot install
system files or update shared files if they are in use. Before proceeding, we recommend that you close any applications
you may be running.". You have the option of clicking "OK" to install or "Exit SetUp" to cancel. Click "OK" and proceed
to the next screen.
Now on the next installation screen, you will see the instructions: "Begin installation by clicking the button below",
"click this
button to install Cover My Tracks 1.11Freeware software to the specified destination directory". A small icon on the top left
hand corner with a computer on it is the button you'll want to press. An installation directory will display where Cover My
Tracks will be installing itself - it will look something like this: "Directory: C:\Program Files\CoverMyTracks\ - Change Directory
/ Exit SetUp". If the directory is correct, then click on the computer icon button on the top left hand side of the window and
continue. The next window that you will see says: "SetUp will add items to the group shown in the Program Group box. You
can enter a new group name or select one from the Existing Groups list." By default, the group to place that Cover My Tracks
is placed on is "StartUp". You can choose where you want to place the application by clicking on a directory and click "OK".
Congratulations, you now have Cover My Tracks installed. You now must reboot your computer. Now click on the 'Start' button,
'Shut Down', and the 'Reboot'. Once you have rebooted back into Windows, you will notice a small footprint icon on the system
tray - next to the clock on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
